Cash support for Kali Bahadur Pariyar, a blind porter in Lamjung

Portrait of a man in a Dhaka topi and cream coat seated outside a mud walled house, hands clasped in front of him.

On 6th February 2016, Director of DWSWN, Surendra Adhikari, along with 5 volunteers, Anil Shrestha, Pratibh Acharya, Arun Amatya, Sameer Shrestha, and Shankar Koirala went to Gilung, Lamjung to provide cash support to a blind porter, Kali Bahadur Pariyar.

Kali Bahadur is quite popular in his village. After goods coming from Pokhara, Rambajar, and Bhorletar are dropped in the local market, Kali Bahadur gets busy delivering those goods to the locals of other VDCs in the high hills.

After we came across a news on Republica (http://www.nepalmountainnews.com/cms/2016/01/01/blind-porter-in-remote-hills/), which had featured Kali Bahadur, DWSWN decided to help this determined man. After finalizing the plans and details, the team went to Gilung on 5th January to provide support to him.

We provided him with a fund of NRs. 25,000/-. He was very happy to get this support from us, and his face was filled with gratefulness!
