Day 22: Deerwalk Earthquake Work on the Ground

On 29 May the Deerwalk Social Welfare Network joined a programme organised by Kamalpokhari Sports Club and dedicated to school children. The DWSWN volunteers, led by Surendra Adhikari, were Pranab Man Singh of the DWIT faculty and the DWIT students Pankaj, Mohan, Anushka and Malika, together with the volunteers Sweta and Simran. Over 60 students and parents took part.

The programme opened with a general knowledge question and answer round, followed by chocolate for the winning children. A colouring and sketching competition came next: some students painted outlined sketches, others drew freehand and filled in the colour. A comedy film show closed the day and brought laughter among the participants. The programme helped the children refresh mentally and forget the earthquake for a while. They were happy to see the chocolates, balloons and gifts on offer, and they brought positivity to the environment.

The parents of those children were impressed by how well the programme went, and were glad to see them laughing and dancing. The organisers thanked DWSWN for its cooperation and support.
