Day 1: Lost homes, lost lives

Some relief for Gajuri and Kumpur villages in Dhading, reported by Susma Pant.

An employee of Deerwalk Services and a representative of Deerwalk Social Welfare Network visited Gajuri and Kumpur villages in Dhading, 85 km from Kathmandu, and distributed a sum of NPR 60,000 to six people who lost family members in the earthquake. The recipients were Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, who lost his wife; Kamala Tamang, who lost her daughter; Rajendra Shrestha, who lost his son and his wife; Thuli Maya Tamang, who lost her father in law; Subash Pariyar, who lost his sister; and Ram Lal Shrestha, who lost his daughter. Thirty four houses in the two villages had completely collapsed, leaving those families homeless, with even greater destruction and casualties in neighbouring villages.
